Pattern: Among Us Crewmate

  • by

This Among Us Crewmate Pattern is for a modular alien in two parts so you can have your own little crewmate that’s either DEAD or ALIVE!

You can download the free PDF version of this pattern on my Ravelry page.

MATERIALS

Any yarn you like with the right hook size to make tight stitches. I used a DK milk cotton yarn with a 3mm hook.

Yarn colours:

  • Colour A: body colour (any colour you want)
  • Colour B: pink/red
  • Colour C: white
  • Colour D: grey/pale blue
  • Colour E: black

NOTES

  • Work in joined rounds instead of spirals: Join rounds by making a slip stitch into the first stitch of the row at the end of each row (skipping the slip stitch and chain from joining the rounds previously. Those don’t count as stitches)
  • Only the bone is worked in spirals.

STITCHES

  • Ch: Chain
  • Sl st: Slip stitch
  • Sc: Single crochet
  • Inc: Increase – make two stitches into the same stitch
  • Dec: Decrease – invisible decrease by single crocheting the next two stitches together through front loops only
  • BLO: Back loops only – make stitch into the back loop of the ‘v’ only.

PATTERN

Legs (make 2)

*Start with colour A*

Make a magic ring.

R1: ch 1, 6 sc into magic ring, sl st to join (6)

R2: ch 1, inc around, sl st to join (12)

R3: BLO – ch 1, sc around, sl st to join (12)

R4-6: ch 1, sc around, sl st to join (12)

Fasten off first leg. Do not fasten off second.

Once you have two legs, with the yarn still attached to the second, continue to bottom body.

BOTTOM BODY

*Time to join the legs*

*Continue on from the second leg with the working yarn still attached*

R7: ch 1, 4 sc, ch 2, join with a single crochet to a stitch on the first leg, make another 11 sc around first leg (so that’s 12 sc onto the first leg), 2 sc into chain, 8sc on the second leg, sl st to join (28)

R8: ch1, sc around (making two sc into the other side of the chain when you get there), sl st to join (28)

R9-11: ch1, sc around, sl st to join (28)

R12: ch1, 10 sc, 2 dec, 10 sc , 2 dec, sl st to join (24)

*change to colour B and start stuffing lightly if you haven’t already*

R13: BLO – ch1, dec, 8 sc, 2 dec, 8 sc, dec, sl st to join (20)

Fasten off and leave enough tail to close the opening with whip stitch through back loops only. Weave in tail.

BONE

*Use colour C*

Work in continuous/spiral rounds

Make magic ring

R1: 3 sc into magic ring (3)

R2: inc around (6)

R3: sc around (6)

Fasten off. Make another. Don’t fasten off second.

Join the two piece by slip stitching through both pieces over three stitches.

And then:

R4: sc around the outer edge of the pieces where they aren’t joined. (6)

R5-7: sc around (6)

Fasten off. Leave enough tail to join to body. Lightly stuff, if necessary. I didn’t stuff mine.

TOP BODY

*Use colour A*

R1: ch 7. Start at 2nd chain from hook. Inc, 4 sc, 3 sc in next st, 5 sc, sl st to join (14)

R2: ch 1, inc, 6 sc, inc, 6 sc, sl st to join (16)

R3: ch 1, 2 inc, 6 sc, 2 inc, 6 sc, sl st to join (20)

R4: ch 1, sc, 2 inc, 8 sc, 2 inc, 7 sc, sl st to join (24)

R5: ch 1, 2 sc, 2 inc, 10 sc, 2 inc, 8 sc, sl st to join (28)

R6-14: ch 1, sc around, sl st to join (28)

Fasten off. Weave in end.

PACK

*Use colour A*

R1: ch 11. Starting on second chain from hook, 9 sc, inc, continue to other side of chains with 9 sc, sl st to join (20)

R2-9: ch1, sc around, sl st to join (20)

R10: ch1, [dec, 8 sc] x 2, sl st to join (18)

Fasten off. Leave long tail. Stuff lightly. Use tail to whip stitch opening closed. Keep tail for attaching to body later.

VISOR

*Use colour D*

R1: ch 7. Starting on second chain from hook, inc, 4 sc, 3 sc in the next stitch, 5 sc, sl st to join (14)

R2. Ch1, 2inc, 4sc, 3inc, 4sc, 1inc, sl st to join (20)

*change to colour E*

R3: ch1, sc around, sl st to join (20)

Fasten off. Leave long tail for attaching to body. Stuff lightly.

Use colour C (white) to add a little highlight to top right corner of visor.

ASSEMBLY

  • Attach bone to bottom body/leg part right in the middle of the red/pink section.
  • Attach pack to back of top body so that about 3 rows of the bottom of the pack is hanging past the edge of the top body.
  • Attach visor to front of top body between rows 6 to 9.
  • Don’t get killed.

When I was thinking about trying to design my first ever amigurumi pattern, I had only played Among Us once with some friends. Let me tell you, it was stressful trying to stay alive but also oddly soothing to be able to cross off things on my task list!

I certainly didn’t expect little alien crewmates running around trying to be productive while avoiding murder to be a source of inspiration, but here we are. I guess inspiration mysterious that way.

After I made one, I made two, and before I knew it I was making more and more. I even made one with a little mohawk for my little brother. He chose the colours, and I think it’s my favourite.

Once you have your little crewmate, you can endlessly modify it with little hats too. You can even make one with a lighter yarn to be your crewmate’s pet!

Have fun making your own little aliens!
